A few years back I remember ready an article saying that people who doodled while listening to a lecture retained more information than those who did not doodle. With two solid days of training on the Scaleable Agile Framework (aka SAFe) I thought it might be a good idea to give it a try. Then end result is this lovely hand drawn "Doodlegraphic" (see it's like: doodle+infographic. Isn't that cute?).
Did it help me retain more information? Maybe. I did notice that I was able to refer back to a number of the tips I recorded on this document fairly quickly while my peers didn't seem to have any thing to reference when questions came up about how to implement certain aspects of the training. And perhaps most importantly, my five year old daughter was completely astounded when she spotted my notes sticking out of a folder. She immediately proceeded to grab her crayons and color it in. I'll have to post a new version when she's done 😉
